Opportunity to provide feedback on proposed changes to MOPOP

CIPO announced a public consultation on proposed changes to the Manual of Patent Office Practice (MOPOP).  The changes are to integrate the Practice Notice “Patentable Subject-matter under the Patent Act” into the MOPOP.  The proposed changes affect chapter 12 (Fundamentals of Examination); chapter 17 (Subject-matter); chapter 18 (Anticipation, Obviousness and Double-patenting); chapter 22 (Computer-implemented inventions); and chapter 23 (Biotechnology and Medicinal inventions). 

The proposed changes are posted on CIPO’s MOPOP consultation page.  IPIC members are invited to send their comments to admin@ipic.ca by February 7, 2021, to assist IPIC’s Patent Committee with a view to IPIC preparing a submission on the consultation.  The consultation closes February 25, 2022.
