In Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc. v. Goldsmith, 598 U.S. 508, 143 S. Ct. 1258 (2023), the US Supreme Court narrowed the fair use defense and raised important questions for artists, practitioners, and legal scholars.

This webinar will provide Canadian and US perspectives on trends and developing issues around fair dealing and fair use, including: 

  • The evolution of Canadian law on fair dealing; 
  • The evolution of US law on fair use;
  • Commentary on the similarities and differences between the two; and 
  • Implications for artists and industries.
