Trademark administrators are dealing with an increasing number of applications filed in Canada using the Madrid Protocol. Presenters will provide guidance on how to manage Canadian designations of international registrations (“protocol applications”) from an administrative perspective, discussing topics such as the following:
- introduction to Madrid Protocol and key terminology
- overview of the registration process for protocol applications in Canada
- how CIPO deals with mail on protocol applications
- key differences between protocol applications and domestic applications
- division and transformation of international registrations
