Protecting the Integrity of the U.S. Trademark Register: The Fight Against Scams, Fraudsters and Unqualified Practitioners
Tuesday, July 23, 2024, 1 pm - 2 pm ET
Held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, 1 pm - 2 pm ET
USPTO Commissioner for Trademarks, David Gooder, will discuss the relevant features of US law, the nature of the scams and frauds the USPTO is encountering, problem practitioners, and how the USPTO is fighting these challenges. This is an important issue as it affects not only the pendency of trademark applications (an issue which we are currently facing in Canada) and the mounting ‘deadwood’ on the Trademark Register, but also consumer trust in the IP system since fraudsters typically target smaller entities and self-filers.
Join this engaging discussion moderated by IPIC President Paula Clancy to learn the latest on this timely topic in trademark law and practice.
