Enforcing IP Rights in a Digital World: Online Marketplaces, Social Media and Search Engines

The presenters will provide a greater understanding of the online treatment of IP rights, including a brief overview of online ‘takedowns’, and the ‘takedown’ mechanisms available for disputes regarding major e-commerce retailers, social media platforms and search engines. With some background information on the takedown mechanisms for major online platforms, and a focus on practical tips for using takedown mechanisms, at the end of this session, attendees will be able to:

  • Identify different online infringements (specifically trademark, copyright, fraud) and potential takedown mechanisms
  • Advise their clients on whether/how to use these mechanisms may be used to enforce IP rights online
  • Use takedown mechanisms to their best effect
