Artificial Intelligence: Patentability and Inventorship in Europe
Wednesday, June 17, 2020, 1 pm - 2 pm ET
Held on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, 1 pm - 2 pm ET
This webinar is presented by IPIC and CIPA
The European Patent Office has reported rapid growth in patent filings for computer-implemented inventions including artificial intelligence, but what guidance is available on the EPO approach to AI patentability and AI inventorship? How does this guidance fit within the context of European case law for computer-implemented inventions? What are the key lessons for drafting AI patent applications that will succeed in Europe?
Mike Jennings of AA Thornton, an expert on patenting computer-implemented inventions, a veteran of EPO oral proceedings, and a leading member of CIPA’s Computer Technology Committee, will share recent EPO developments on the patentability of AI-related inventions and the vexed question of inventorship for AI-generated inventions.
